Galterö, January 3rd, 2005, part 1 / part 2

A quick trip to Galterö, with the intention to take some pictures of the long walk from the ferry across Brännö to the outer island. At Brännö Rödsten the ferry always turns around back to Saltholmen as soon as one boatload of passengers have gotten off and another boatload has gotten on. Even at noon, the sunlight is pale and the shadows long. Quite a suburb, Brännö - though very idyllic. First you walk through half the village, then across from the grocery store you turn right. Then you're in for the long eventless gravel road through the wooded part of the island, before you reach the little cluster of summer cottages where people leave their bicycles if they are going out towards Galterö. The summer path was partly under water, so I took a somewhat higher route than usual.

At the gate, a flock of sheep: the owner had just been out to see them, and they wanted to slip out and follow him home.

Part 2

The Common Whitlowgrass; a patient winter life, awaiting early and brief bloom.

Some White Stonecrop from the edge of Galterö sund.
