The characteristic dark tips of the outer bracts of the
Common Groundsel show better in the larger picture at the
September page. This detail (8X) shows the cobwebby fuzz
in the angle between the mostly smooth stems.
The Wood Groundsel was a scarcer guest than I
thought. I had to go hunting off the S-weed
territory for material for this 8X detail, showing the
sparse frizz of stem hairs.
The other two Groundsels are on the other hand
everpresent through a long season. At 8X the
glandular tips of the dense hairs are visible (at least
faintly - and a clear difference from the others).
