Fig-leaved Goosefoot, Göteborg, August 18th, 2001

Chenopodium ficifolium
Fikonmålla i juni, i november, i mars och i januari

Eva Ekeblad, 2001

close to home
in the raised bed
of lush flowers
a big fat
fig-leaved goosefoot
managing to look
as if it belongs:
pinching it off
i was told by a little girl
you're not allowed
to pick those

and i told her
its a WEED

on the other side of the river
this afternoon
on a dumping ground safari
with the tribe of botanists
i had the opportunity
to nip a leaf

from one of two small plants
of the Weed
- the real Zoyd Wheeler:
Cannabis sativa
which does not grow on my turf.

An appropriate occasion to place a greeting to Frank Wiederkehr, who writes me letters on hemp paper in praise of the virtues of the Weed.  ....  No, I didn't tear it up, Frank, just did some image processing.
