Spear Thistle, Göteborg, Feb 23rd, 2001





Fooled again, by the variable shapes of leaves, I wrote:

A single small first-year plant of this thistle
grows under the sparse bushes around the house

There are more of them, elsewhere in my territory
up in the patch by the re-structured parking lot
by the bus center
where there are also the spikier rosettes of spear thistle

The same rosette under the bushes (now dense with leaves) has been taxed with another leaf for May 19th, shown there together with the Welted Thistle (for which this one was mis-identified in February.
