Great Reed-mace

the turn has come to a couple of the aquatic plants by the ditch
featured in their dry winter apparition in february
they have now entered the green season amidst the muck

Now
the Reed-mace here to the left
is not the shoot that has been sitting there for almost a year
because that wasn't Reed-mace but Common Reed.
So here's a new scan: from April 14th, 2002
- spring is still a bit earlier this year, so the timing isn't too badly off.

In the Ditch the Common Reed and the Great Reed-mace grow together
but the Reed sample from this spring came from a drier place
without any Mace mixup
so it prompted me to go back and check shoots of the Reed-mace.
And I was right: I was wrong.
