although the aspen trembles
the borders of the rambling parking lots of the next block
seem fairly safe for self-enterprising trees and bushes
- a mongrel mix, with some sycamore dominance

when i follow the key link to last year
and see the two early forget-me-nots
i make the observation that i haven't seen any flowers
of either of the two (or three or four) yet this spring
and it's not for the lack of looking
though it might be for a lack of "vision"
the wintercress and the ground ivy, on the other hand
are in full flower just like the year before last
